“Let your roots grow down into Him, and let your lives be built on Him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.” – Colossians 2:7 NLT

Our Carman Pre-Kindergarten program starts at the roots of academic, spiritual and physical growth preparing students to excel in Kindergarten and beyond.

We offer a hands-on bible based curriculum. All of our pre-academic skills are centered around a monthly bible theme, and to take the learning one step further we incorporate the outdoors.

I believe that children learn best by experiencing the world with all their senses. We actively explore God’s creation in our dedicated nature space, because learning takes place in and out of the classroom.

Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.” – Ps. 25:5

Kindergarten is such a special time for students and their families. As students begin their formal school career it is my privilege and responsibility to build a strong foundation that will enable students to be successful, not just academically, but spiritually and socially as well. Building positive relationships with my students and their families is not just an integral part of my success–it is the best part of my job!

I am passionate about creating a warm, joyful, and supportive classroom environment where students not only master academic standards, but also learn empathy for others, a respect for diversity, and the tenets of Christ-like behavior. Because I know that students learn a great deal through the example of others, it is my mission to model these positive attributes every day.

Mrs. Holland |  1st Grade

Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies

Certified by the North American Division of Seventh-day Adventist, Level Standard

Learning can indeed be fun! My goal is to make learning memorable for my students. This can be done many ways. I was told once, “What your hands do, your brain will remember”. This is why I enjoy incorporating music and movement into lessons wherever possible. I also want my students to know that anything is possible! One of the first rules in my classroom has always been: Can’t is not an option; always try. This is based on one of my favorite scriptures Phil. 4:13 that states: “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength”. I want to build my students’ confidence and belief in themselves. When they believe they can, they will. That is my goal!

Ms. Suk | 2nd Grade

Bachelor of Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education

I want students to come into my classroom as they are, but leave better than they were before. For me, the best part of teaching is seeing students grow academically and in their character. I love how no two students are exactly the same. Everyone is unique in their own way, having gifts and talents that can be used for others. 1 Corinthians 16:14 says to “do everything in love.” So, I hope to create an environment that reflects love for each other and a love for learning.

Student engagement is what I constantly work towards as a teacher. Not only does it motivate students to learn second grade content, it also prepares them to become life-long learners.

“Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” Mark 10:15

I spend a lot of time preparing for a new school year. I love buying fresh school supplies and planning new activities! Decorating my classroom isn’t a chore; it is one of the best parts of a new school year! And I make many plans to help my students reach their learning goals for the year while creating an environment that is fun and safe.

But while I know that it is my responsibility to teach my students, they have no idea that they are teaching me so much every day. Kids are full of energy and bright ideas. Kids seek justice and fairness. Kids are quick to forgive and excited to help. This must be why Jesus told us to seek his Kingdom as a child would. What a blessing to learn from our kids each day!

Mrs. Spann | 4th Grade

Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts Education

Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, SDA Basic Elementary Certification

I am excited to be a part of the Carman Family as the 4th grade teacher.

I like to present learning to students in a way that makes learning fun and exciting.  I want students to apply what they learn and be ready to share their learning experiences with others.

We are reminded by Paul that we should, “Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice.” Philippians 4:4 KJV

It is my prayer that we will be able to rejoice and not be weary as we travel along this educational road together.

It is my hope that my students will leave my classroom understanding that God has a special plan for their lives.  I also hope that they have a desire to impact change in their community.  I want my students to seek knowledge and not be afraid to ask questions.

“How much better to get wisdom than gold! To get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver.” – Proverbs 16:16
